Competitive Dance

Our Competitive Programs

Leigh’s School of Dance proudly established the first competition program in Olathe, setting the standard for excellence in the region. Decades later, and after earning hundreds of prestigious awards, our passion remains the same: to provide dancers of all levels with the opportunity to experience the artistry, discipline, and growth that competitive dance offers.

Our teams have been recognized with numerous overall high point, technique, precision, and choreography awards—reflecting both the strength of our training and the dedication of our dancers.

Star Babies

Our Star Babies program is designed for our youngest dancers, providing a positive and age-appropriate introduction to the stage. Dancers attend two regional competitions each year and perform in Santa Baby, Competitive Showcase, and Recital; building confidence and a love for performance from the very beginning.

Rising Stars

Rising Stars is our pre-competitive team, offering dancers an introduction to the competitive experience in a supportive and encouraging environment. Dancers attend one regional competition each year and perform in Santa Baby, Competitive Showcase, and Recital, along with one additional local performance opportunity.

Star Team

Our Star Team represents the highest level of our competitive program. Dancers attend four regional competitions and one national competition each season, while also performing in Santa Baby, Competitive Showcase, and Recital. This team is designed for dancers who are committed to advancing their technique, performance quality, and competitive experience.

More Than Training

At Leigh’s, our dancers gain more than strong technical foundations—they develop discipline, responsibility, confidence, and lasting friendships. We believe success is not defined by trophies, but by the dedication, growth, and character each dancer brings to their journey.
Our award-winning faculty is committed to fostering a positive, encouraging environment where every dancer is supported in reaching their full potential.

Holistic Development

Our program is built on a foundation of holistic training, preparing dancers not only for the stage, but for future opportunities beyond the studio. Through a combination of local performances and larger-scale experiences, our dancers are equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed wherever their path leads. Leigh’s alumni have gone on to dance on collegiate teams, professionally in New York City, Los Angeles and Branson; entertain on cruise ships, and even take the stage at Disney World.

Interested in Competition Dance?

In order to audition to be a member of our competitive team, dancers must take the Star Team Intensives in July. The intensive offers classes in a variety of styles for your dancer to try out as well as gives our staff insight on how your dancer learns at a more advanced level.
